Radio show promo

Tune in at Dubstep.fm

COA is proud to announce the start of its new radio show, Code Of Arms Radio, on Dubstep.fm this Friday, January 29, 2010. DJs Nebulla and Soroka will be hosting and showcasing new and old Code Of Arms material. Every week on Friday the show will air between 5PM to 7PM EST, 2PM to 4PM PST, and 10PM to 12AM GMT. Please tune in and listen!

Code Of Arms Records is an independent electronic record label based in New York City, specializing in Dubstep, Grime and other Bass music.
Code Of Arms first appeared in August of 2007 with its own special brand of U.S. Dubstep crossed with Dirty-south acappellas, dubbed The Dirtystep Mixtape Vol. I, featuring the production work of Nebulla and DJ Dore. The mixtape was released as a promotional bootleg and received unexpected acclaim. This set the stage for the first official digital releases on C.O.A. Records. In the summer of 2008 the label released its first vinyl pressing with core members Nebulla and Dore again on the buttons. Since then, C.O.A. has grown to include a burgeoning roster of artists from across the U.S. and around the globe. The label now sports a sizable catalog of distinctive dub-influenced production and synth-heavy club bangers.

Hailing from New York City and already a longtime Jungle and Drum and Bass enthusiast, Nebulla has over the years refined his style with a clear dedication to mash-up genres. In 2007 Nebulla teamed up with DJ Dore to create the Dirtystep Mixtape series. Volumes 1 and 2 were well received and led to an avalanche of Crunk/Dirtysouth influenced Dubstep production. Nebulla started Code Of Arms Records in the summer of 2007. Los Angeles based label La Dubstep Nostra signed Nebulla and Dore in 2008 for their Czar Black Remix Gettin’ Doe, which was released on vinyl along with tracks by Parson and 6blocc. Nebulla is currently a resident of the world famous Konkrete Jungle NYC and performs in many other New York City venues. He continues to create and perform new music, so watch out for new material from Nebulla in 2010! (www.myspace.com/djnebulla)

Soroka began making sample-based hip-hop in 2000. Later he started working with Nebulla and DJ Dore, contributing to The Dirtystep Mixtape Volume II. For Soroka, the transition from his work in architecture to producing Dubstep was a natural one. In 2007, Soroka helped formed Code Of Arms Records, the first and only dubstep label in New York City, alongside Nebulla and Dore. Since 2008, he has been a regular DJ at Konkrete Jungle NYC, as well as Darkroom, and continues to play on a regular basis in NYC and elsewhere. To Soroka, song selection, continuity and amazing drops are of the utmost importance. He has now had several releases on Code Of Arms Records, recently collaborating with the UK/Stateside grime crew First City. He was featured on “Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Volume 2: Enter The Dubstep”, and also the “4Play EP” on Filthy Digital. He continues to push and refine his style of production to be heavier, deeper, and more epic. With forthcoming vinyl releases on Bassism, Playing With Fire and C.O.A., and more in the pipeline for Filthy Digital and Gamma Audio, this is sure to be a big year for Soroka. SYNDAESIA - SUPERNOVA/BELLYDANCER in stores!!!

COA-007

Code of Arms is proud to announce the vinyl debut of one of Belgium’s finest artists. With several digital releases under his belt and a track on the recent dubstep/hip hop album, Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Vol 2.: Enter The Dubstep, Syndaesia is turning heads all over the world.

With roots ranging from rock, funk to drum&bass it is no surprise that Syndaesia gives birth to dubstep with an in-your-face attitude. This young producer from Belgium creates music with the sole intention of smashing up a dancefloor. In just a short amount of time he has seemingly reached sonic perfection.

Over the past few months his tracks have slowly but surely creeped onto the wish list of radio stations & dj’s around the globe. What should you expect? A futuristic cocktail of big stadium drums, twisted basslines & trancey leads. Keep your ears out for more of Syndaesia smashing up the ranks on future Code of Arms releases.

Supernova starts out as an homage to an older sound. Its breaky intro, reminiscent of 80’s disco, and intense buildup leads you right in to the bass madness when it drops. With fanatic wobble and hard-hitting drum work this tune is a heavy hitter every time. Supernova takes the listener on a trip, combining his deliberate, no-holds-barred sound with colorful progressions. Here, Syndaesia demonstrates his wide perspective and versatility.

Belly Dancer speaks for itself, its eastern percussive intro might fool you, but its all out epic Syndaesia. This high-energy B Side wastes no time setting the stage, springing into action with a series of fast cuts that switch from tablas and sitar loops to cymbal-laden drum-breaks and hypnotic rave-synth riffs. The rest of the track is equally impulsive, drums stopping on a dime to allow squelching bass and snare rolls to punctuate the silence. Each of the alternating sections progresses through subtle variations to its pulsing mid-range bass synths, culminating in a final 64 bars of hip-shaking frenzy. Having launched us into a fantasy worthy of Mumbai’s future robot epics, the vision vanishes leaving the crowd contemplating a sequel.

Be sure to pick up this one at any fine vinyl shop!

Top Producer EP - FC003 OUT NOW!!

December 5th, 2009 | By Dore

full_sizeComing off of October’s Kings of New York intrumental release, First City Records continues to up the ante with another selection of material from its core producers. Straight out the gate, some dark mobster action from Nato with “Revenge” setting the crime scene. Bookz‘ “Do It” brings in the wobble inna proper rave artillery fashion. On “Emperor Riddim” Nato lays hypnotic lead synth and punchy bass stabs over a banghra tabla rhythm . DJ Dore’s “Cronxly Mews” is a laid-back old-school jam given a dub twist. “Untitled 8969″ is another smashing composition from Bookz matching grime beats and vibes with high-energy basslines. “Egyptian Riddim” is just the kind of well polished bouncing production that has MC’s itching for a pad and pen and just the song to finish of this well-rounded EP. Bag a copy of Top Producer EP here and be on the look out for more top level production on First City Records.

COA-D-022 “Bombay Tears” out now

November 30th, 2009 | By Dore

coa-d-022-400Belgium’s dubstep is practically bursting its borders with Untitled in Antwerp bringing in scores of UK heavy-hitters and plenty of underground scenes poping up across other parts of Flanders. Next to Berlin, Belgium is one of the most exciting places for dubstep in Europe outside of the UK. Enough hype. Code Of Arms is proud to present its next digital release featuring Belgian producers Bilsiac & Geeks. Geeks’ production exhibits a wide range of styles across the dubstep spectrum from soulful garage to dancefloor bangers. Bombay Tears is an melodic track of epic proportions with a bollywood vocal deftly woven into raging synthlines and crisp drums. Bilsiacs remixing skills have brought him (more…)

COA-002 - SUSPECT / SWITCHDUBS - FISH NEED WATER / WAGAMAMA OUT NOW!!!

October 13th, 2009 | By Nebulla

coa-002-400coa-002-400-bWe are proud to announce our second vinyl release featuring Suspect & Switchdubs.

Suspect (“Melvyn Staples”) hails from Dover, UK. A formidable Dubstep producer in his own right, Suspect occasionally joins forces with other Dover native, Stenchman, as part of dirty Dubstep duo, Suspicious Stench. Suspect has been producing music using Reason 4 since 2007. In 2009, Suspect recently launched a new label, Prime Audio. Suspect’s interests are simple: applying peoples’ skin to his face and killing them with aggressive basslines.

Hailing from south east coast of the United Kingdom, Switchdubs has been blowing up dance floors with his unique blend of bass driven Dubstep. Switchdubs burst onto the UK Dubstep with the now classic “Child of the West,” followed by his first major release, the dance floor shredder, ‘Mother from the East.’ The latter was quickly snapped up for release by London-based Dubstep label, Essence of Dub, and exploded onto the masses in June of 2009. Along with his other Dover cohorts, Stenchman and Suspect, Switchdubs shares his partner’s affinity for punishing percussion and thunderous basslines. However, while part of the Dover collected mind, Switchdubs creates a sound uniquely his own - one which continues to evolve. Since “Mother of the East”, Switchdubs has had signings with Sludge, Dubsaw, Full Melt Recordings, and is excited to add Brooklyn’s Code of Arms to this list. Switchdubs eagerly anticipates storming America with his Bovinyl Moosik brethren, Stenchman and Suspect, in 2010.
