COA-D040 SOROKA - CRYPTON IN STORES MAY 27TH!

May 23rd, 2011 | By Soroka

coa-d-040

Check out our latest single–my first solo release on COA since 2009!

Available on Beatport May 27th, 2011.

Belgium-born producers Glÿph take the tune into a whole different realm, bringing the deep tribal vibes on their killer remix. Have a taste of the tracks below.

Resonating out of Brooklyn, New York, Soroka is one of NYC’s premiere dubstep producer/dj’s. Since collaborating on the Dirtystep Mixtape II in early 2007, he has had 16 releases on labels Code Of Arms, Filthy Digital, Gamma Audio, Babygrande and Betamorph Recordings. Built on a foundation of reggae and hip-hop, his production is constantly evolving and breaking new ground, bringing raw energy and hard bass tightly woven with melodic structure. Recent projects include tracks with Lenny Dee, Wu-Tang, Brand Nubian, The Alchemystics, and the Lithuanian Top 40 artist, Gacho. In 2009 he gained recognition worldwide for his top-selling remix on the double CD “Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture Vol. 2: Enter The Dubstep”. This was followed up in 2010 with the second Enter The Dubstep album by hip-hop pioneers Brand Nubian on which he co-produced 5 tracks. Representing Konkrete Jungle Origination, he has been smashing it at clubs and warehouse parties in NYC and elsewhere for years, spinning alongside Plastician, Datsik, Antiserum, Noah D, Reid Speed and Caspa to name a few.  From performing to producing, and an onslaught of new solo material on the way, 2011 is sure to be a big year for the architect of bassweight.

Glÿph is the collaboration project of Lixkä and Myosïs, two DJ/producers from Belgium. Glÿph was created in November 2009 and as the project grew, they began turning heads with haunting & aggressive dubstep. Their two first productions (African Junkie & Distrogena) enabled them to get signed and make a release with Necroid Recordings. With the help of local event organizers, the duo grew and were able to expand their reach, joining forces with more labels including “F*ckin’ Beat” crew. Other labels featuring Glÿph include Krypled Brain, Gradient Audio and MonkeyDub.

SOUNDKEEPERS- RASTA MONSTA (COA-D-037) OUT 4.12.11!

April 10th, 2011 | By Nebulla

COA-D-036

Release Date April 12th 2011
Title: Soundkeepers – Rasta Monsta

Label: Code Of Arms (COA-D-037)

A. Soundkeepers – Rasta Monsta
B. Soundkeepers – Flatline

Soundkeepers, which was conceived as a two-person Electro DJ/producer team evolved in 2010 to become the solo, mainly Dubstep, project of Ricky Medina. Although mixes and sets will include house music of all sorts where appropriate, Ricky plans to focus most of his energy on his blooming array of Dubstep productions. With prodigious success, his debut release on the US label, Filthy Digital, reached the top 50 on the Beatport Dubstep Bestsellers List in its first week. Soundkeepers is clearly on the right track. Artists like Reid Speed, Hellfire Machina, Somejerk, Nebulla, and Soroka have already shown interest in his music. It is, after all, hard to expect anything else from someone who, from a very young age, has experienced and been involved with the New York City dance music scene. These roots influence his productions which tend to be huge, body-shaking bangers at 140bpm, that are both melodic and agressively sinister. His love for all things below 80hz, however, extends past that description with productions of all sorts including tech house and electro house. At the end of the day one thing is clear, 2011 and beyond will be the age of Soundkeepers, so look out for this guy’s tunes in a club near you.

Hellfire Machina is a duo dupstep team including Jody Shires aka ‘Mechabot1′
(One half of Sunz Of Mecha and Uncouth Youth/ Label boss at Mechamusic/ Owner of Breaksfm) and Tom Williams aka ‘Chosen Substance’
(Founding member of Junglist Movement and Raw Groove UK). Prior to the birth of this project in late 2008. Jody Shires and Tom Williams collectively had over 60 releases under their belts, along with production work for grammy nominated artists, numerous UK top ten remixes, 5 Breakspoll Awards, Best International Dj in the Spanish EDM awards 3 years running and a history in bass culture that is second to none. The year is now 2010, sonic exploration in the realm of bass fueled riddims is the primary mission for Hellfire Machina. Since migrating from London, Tom and Jody have firmly made their presence felt in New York’s bass music community. Constantly touring and promoting parties, this deadly team of subsonic soldiers don’t show any signs of slowing down, slaying shows from LA to Brooklyn with wave after wave of block rocking panty dropping next level riddims. With production and project management credits on last years Enter The Dubstep WU TANG album, they are currently crafting an album for Brand Nubian, which is due for release at the end of this year. With an ever constant stream of digital and vinyl releases Hellfire’s trademark but diverse sound has embedded itself deep into the landscape and their own artist album is due for release spring 2011, which is being developed in their now famously named studio ‘Planet Twisted’.

BRAND NUBIAN - ‘ENTER THE DUBSTEP’ OUT NOW!

December 23rd, 2010 | By Soroka

FrankRadio and iHipHop Distribution are proud to announce the highly anticipated follow-up to 2009’s “Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture: Enter The Dubstep Vol. 1.”  Out on December 21st, the freshest sounds in underground electronic music have once again encountered the classic hip-hop stylings of the foundational group of legends: Brand Nubian.

After the wild success of Vol. 1, it only felt right for its producers and A&R’s to embark on a new journey down the same road.  Meanwhile, Lord Jamar had found himself becoming more and more interested in heavy bass music and had seen this as a new avenue for the groups lyrical expression. Brand Nubian holds a unique position in hip-hop history.  Universally respected as pioneers of a new way of thinking during the “golden-era” of the early 90’s, Brand Nubian’s political, social and cultural messages were delivered with a heavy dose of hardcore.  With this 2nd installment in the ground-breaking series, “Enter The Dubstep” continues to trailblaze the collaboration between Dubstep and Hip-Hop, bringing hard bass and gritty lyrics together as none have done before.  As Dubstep continues to push itself into mainstream ears, this album continues to push the boundaries of both genres, and in doing so, eliminates the borders all together.

The album features live new vocals from all three MCs (Grand Puba, Sadat X and Lord Jamar), and brand new production by Hellfire Machina, Dem Soul, hardcore legend Lenny Dee, and the COA badmen Soroka and Nebulla who collaborated on an completely original song- “Dopestep” featuring Lord Jamar and Petey Green. It also features, for the first time, a tune by Code of Arms, entitled “Revolution”, which was a collective effort by several COA artists and musicians.

Check out the first two singles now:
