COA-D-041 SOUNDKEEPERS E.P. ON CODE OF ARMS

June 7th, 2011 | By Nebulla

coa-d-041Soundkeepers, which was conceived as a two-person Electro DJ/producer team evolved in 2010 to become the solo, mainly Dubstep, project of Ricky Medina. Although mixes and sets will include house music of all sorts where appropriate, Ricky plans to focus most of his energy on his blooming collection of Dubstep productions. With original tracks pending release from the labels Filthy Digital Recordings and Code of Arms Records in 2011, he is clearly on the right track. Artists like Reid Speed, Hellfire Machina, Somejerk, Nebulla, and Soroka have already shown interest in his music. It is, after all, hard to expect anything else from someone who, from a very young age, has experienced and been involved with the New York City dance music scene. To be sure, these roots influence his productions which tend to be huge, body-shaking melodic bangers. His love for all things below 80hz, however, extends past that description with productions of all sorts including tech house, electro house, and more agressive Dubstep tunes. At the end of the day one thing is clear, 2011 and beyond will be the age of Soundkeepers, so look out for this guy’s tunes in a club near you.

FRIDAY JUNE 5TH MTHODS PRESENTS PRESSURE @ LOVE

Break Science is the culmination of a career of beat bending by its brainchild, Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee, who lends his keyboard soundscapes to Adam’s modern palate. Whether performing a DJ set with drums / programming or helming a live band, Break Science is club music in the vein of a “live mix tape,” blending live trip-hop, broken-beat, dub, drum & bass and hip-hop.

Inspired by hip-hop at an early age – in particular, by Public Enemy and Eric B and Rakim – Adam began his production career by making loops on a tape deck in his bedroom. He’s gone on to produce and play with some of today’s top artists, including 50-Cent, Redman, Talib Kweli, Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, MF Doom, J-Live, Jurassic 5, Justin Timberlake, John Medeski, and his own Fyre Dept as well as being a regular part of Wyclef Jean’s band. http://www.myspace.com/breaksciencemusic

Pawn and EMU are two of the busiest dubstep producers in Los Angeles today. EMU has had the pleasure of playing in many cities outside of the LA area including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City and San Diego exposing new recruits to the addictive sounds of Dubstep. They also host an internet radio show on dubstep.fm that has a worldwide listener base. Look for their releases on SMOGDigi, Basshead (w/Skream remix), 10Bag and more to come! http://www.myspace.com/emudubstep , http://www.myspace.com/pwnsound

DJ Odi is in great part responsible for the entire style of jungle music in NYC. His way of mixing jungle beats with Hip Hop has grown into its own genre. “Jump up” has been the defining style of NYC and the east coast in general since 97. Along with his crew, Digital Konfusion, Odi began spinning at NYC’s most dedicated weekly jungle show: Konkrete Jungle. Odi rapidly became a fixture, while continuing to travel the country, one of the first few to enjoy such popularity. Tonight ODI will bless us with an exclusive Dubstep set done his way. You’ve never heard it played like this! http://www.myspace.com/djodi

Dave GEE is quickly becoming a favorite in the NYC Dubstep scene. His party rocking style pays homage to the decade that he spent working as a Jump-Up Jungle DJ and promoter on the East Coast. Always keeping the dance floor in mind, his sets are comprised of dancehall inspired tunes and crucial wobblers. Dave works full time as CEO of Methods Clothing and simultaneously is holding down residencies at the Dark Room and Pressure parties in New York City. With a steady amount of out-of-town gigs coming up, this is one DJ you need to catch when he’s in your city. http://www.myspace.com/davegee

Dore and Nebulla - Nebulla started Code Of Arms Records in the summer of 2007. Los Angeles based label La Dubstep Nostra singed Nebulla and Dore in 2008 for their Czar Black Remix Gettin’ Doe which was released on vinyl along with tracks by Parson and 6blocc. Dore is also known for his signature sub-heavy production and furious drum programming skills. His tracks appear on Code Of Arms Records and LA Dubstep Nostra. Any set from Dore is sure to be a terrific break-filled blend of exclusive dublates and his own blistering production. http://www.myspace.com/djdore, http://www.myspace.com/djnebulla
